Reason #131 to Rejoice!

Charles Spurgeon said that this Psalm is “… one of the shortest to read, but one of the longest to learn.”
Verse one starts with David’s rejection of pride as he comes unto the Lord in utter humility. The slayer of wild beasts and giants continues with a determination to find a quite soul, in his maker.
In verse two David likens himself to a weaned child, fully grown and yet loving the one who sustains. He wants so very much for God’s people to learn the lessons he has; to hope in the Lord. To find strength in the Creator.
May we seek a quiet heart like David, the shepherd/king, who understood that hope for his Kingdom of Israel, the hope for all of us, is not in man. It’s in the Lord.
